My Saturday getaway was not what I expected, but still well spent.
Initially, I was supposed to attend the Asia Poker League on the Ben's Entertainment City cruise with Hanisah and Mizie. One of the girls I met during the flyer job had registered to play, so we were invited to join in the fun. Hanisah and I had planned to galavant about the cruise, take pictures and sip on some expensive champagne whilst in our heels and best clothes. Unfortunately, due to the fact that this was our first time, obviously not knowing what to expect and also because I forgot my passport and had to rush back, we ended up missing the morning ferry to the cruise (I had no idea it was in Indonesia). The organizers helped us book our boarding pass for the next ferry, which was a few hours later, so we decided to head to Tampines 1 where we purchased Subway meals to make do as our lunch and sat in the open area, taking pictures with Mizie's rather impressive Canon. We arrived back at the terminal pretty early, so more cam-whoring sufficed as a pass time. Soon, some complications came into play. The complexity of the situation grew thick, too thick to comprehend that we decided to skip the cruise (since theres another event next month) and took a cab over to Clarke Quay to do the G-Max. Once we arrived, we sat at the Crazy Elephant for a nice cold pint of Hoegaarden to get our adrenaline on stand by. Pumping up a minimal intoxication, all revved up for the ride. Mizie chicken'd out last minute (typical behaviour of boys) so Hanisah and I stepped up and bravely took the plunge. Our hearts were racing, beating double time... The employee there didn't help either. He began stimulating our imaginations and provoking us with the long wait. Once he pressed the button, almost too quickly for me to see, we shot up in the air. Screaming at the top of our lungs, hair swishing here and there from the upward and downward motions of the ride. The whole time, Hanisah and I were squeezing each other's hand. My eyes were wide open throughout the liberating ordeal, while she kept hers shut tight. It was amazing though, the view from up there was sensational. Just as I had found my comfort level on the seat, the capsule began its descent. Lucky for us, we got a lovely video to take home with the mere price of $10.
After the ride and a gazillion pictures later, I left for town to meet up with Kris. His non stop raving over the new Zombieland movie was hard to ignore. So I had to see it for myself. After catching up and smoking for about an hour, we headed up to the theatre to watch the movie. Apart from a horrific and gory intro and the spewing of guts and blood all over, I loved it. Emma Stone is one tough chick. And the image of Bill Murray smoking up through a bong dressed as a zombie was pretty funny. After the movie, I rushed over to my grandma's place for her early Christmas dinner/get together and stuffed my face with the wide range of food that was oh so deliciously displayed on her fine glass table. I grabbed whatever was left. Spaghetti, chicken, ham, garlic bread, strawberry cheesecake, suji cake and more ham. Washing it all down with a packet of apple juice. Once the night was over, we headed home. Mum was out drinking with Aunt Claudette, while I made the decision to stay home for a quiet night with HBO, skipping the over-priced beach fest.
